Who gets to heaven? Bible readers know that Jesus alone is the doorway to eternal life. Is that door opened so wide that everyone will be saved? As Dr. John teaches through 1 Timothy 4, he comes to a verse that has raised questions about the scope of salvation. Paul says in verse 10 that Jesus is the “Saviour of all people, especially of those who believe.” What does that mean? Dr. John will unpack the truth of Paul’s words and point to the error of “universalism.” It is both a needed caution and gospel motivation for the Church.

The first is that prophets in the Bible are almost always mistreated and abused, and the second is that the followers of Christ are often persecuted to a similar degree. In this chapter, we are reminded of how God will always raise up those who will speak his word in the midst of overwhelming hardship, and how even though evil may flourish for the moment, God's kingdom is forever.

In Revelation chapter 10, at what seems to be the height of our anticipation to know what will come from the blowing of the 7th Trumpet, we find the story interrupted by the arrival of a 'Mighty Angel'. Something major is about to happen and it’s time to stop and listen.
