    A Choice to Make

In this message we are confronted with a choice: will we choose this world or will we choose to follow Christ? This choice will result in two completely different outcomes. Revelation chapter 9 presents the blowing of the fifth trumpet, and from that, the opening of the “bottomless pit”. The passage speaks of a star that falls from heaven and smoke rising as hell’s doors are opened. We are presented with the result of the choice that is made by each of us. What will we choose?

    When the Trumpet Sounds

The Book of Revelation causes many to shutter; we wonder exactly what to do with the images it presents. And so, we stay clear of it because who's going to understand it all anyway? It may be that you struggle with some of the details, but if you can keep your eye on the overall picture, it is incredible how all of the smaller issues will begin to fall into place. This book will not tell you the year that Christ will return, and it may not answer all of your questions, but Revelation is intended to sum up the entire scriptures and give us critical insight into the great plan of God. Join in as we focus on Revelation 8–11 for a series entitled 'When the Trumpet Sounds.'

    Hope in the Pardoning God

Advent is a time of longing for the deliverance from sin promised by God. Dr. John highlights two key truths form Micah - the enormity of sin and the grace of the Messiah. Despite the severity of our rebellion, Micah offers hope. Advent invites us to wait on God, trusting in His deliverance, just as the Messiah’s coming brings light to those in darkness. God’s steadfast love and forgiveness, realized in Christ, offer hope for all.

  • December 20, 2024

    Why We Need a Saviour

Sin is not just a sense of dysfunction in our world, but rebellion against God. Using Micah 6, Dr. John highlights God's indictment of Israel for rejecting His mercy and justice. God's requirements are simple: to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him. Jesus comes as the only solution to sin in our world and in our hearts.

  • December 13, 2024

    The Long Expected Messiah

Dr. John focuses on the prophecy of Micah, highlighting the contrast between present suffering and future hope. Micah prophesied that the Messiah would emerge from the insignificant town of Bethlehem to restore peace and righteousness. While skeptics may doubt the fulfilment of God’s promises, the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem marks the beginning of the Messiah’s reign and our own hope. Dr. John encourages believers to hold onto hope. Jesus brings salvation and the ultimate defeat of evil.

  • December 6, 2024

    The Plans of the Lord

Our present world of sin doesn't reflect the future hope of the Messiah’s reign. Dr. John draws from Matthew 24 and Micah, emphasizing both judgment and peace. Micah prophesies that the Messiah will bring justice, transform nations, and end violence. The Christmas message signals the beginning of this hope. Jesus’ birth marks the start of God's plan to defeat sin and death - the only hope for our world.

  • November 29, 2024

    Micah’s Christmas

Dr. John Neufeld reflects on the book of Micah, highlighting its themes of judgment and hope. While Micah 5:2 prophesies the Messiah's birth in Bethlehem, the book also warns of God’s judgment on sin. However, Micah offers hope, pointing to a coming Saviour who will restore and forgive. Dr. Neufeld connects this to John 3:16–17, showing that Jesus came to save, not condemn. Christmas is truly meaningful only when we recognize our need for a Saviour, making Jesus' birth the good news of salvation.

    Marks of Genuine Reconciliation

Join us for the final message in Dr. John’s series on Philemon, and discover what truly marks the reconciliation beyond mere forgiveness that allows for friendship in the world and the Family of God. Reconciliation can take us to places we never could have imagined, and that’s exactly what it did for Onesimus and Philemon.

  • November 15, 2024

    Beyond Forgiveness

When it’s time to correct people, are you also aware of the things they have done that have served Christ well? Come and see how Paul deals with bringing forgiveness and reconciliation into the most ruptured relationships, and the wisdom it provides for life in our modern culture that is so full of difference and division.

  • November 8, 2024

    Christian Friendship

Philemon is a challenge for us no longer to live our lives privately, but to live them publicly; to make fellowship something that actually transforms. In this first message on Philemon, we look at Christian Friendship and the public example of reconciliation that Philemon could be to his church, an example which disrupted the very institution of slavery.

    7 Reasons to be Wise

Wisdom is more than being an oxford graduate, in fact, often it has very little to do with education. In this message, Dr. John walks us through 7 reasons to be wise with the help of Proverbs chapter 8.

  • October 25, 2024

Winning the War Against Sexual Sin

    Counting on God

This week, Dr. John speaks about God’s promises to us from Proverbs chapter 3. Although we may worry, God’s promises never break or falter. This message explores why God’s word is one we can trust.

Building Your Life From the Inside Out

What sets apart the book of Proverbs from a self-help book you’d buy from the bookstore is that Jesus changes us from the inside out, rather than the outside in. In this message, Dr. John Neufeld walks us through Proverbs chapter two and speaks on the importance of wisdom and how it is God’s gift to us.

  • October 4, 2024

    Skill in Living

The book of Proverbs, which is a book about wisdom, does not begin with abstract theories of what constitutes wisdom. Wisdom is rather straightforward. Wisdom is a skill in living or the ability to live successfully.

    Hope for the Persecuted

Trouble comes from different places. There are the troubles we bring upon ourselves or the troubles sent from God for our discipline. But Jesus promised us that we would face troubles from the world. Dr. John points to Psalm 7 as a reflection of Jesus' promise. God has overcome the world.

  • September 20, 2024

    Praying When Our Enemies Triumph

Being disciplined is never pleasant; yet it is a necessary part of the parent/child relationship. It is also a necessary part of being a child of God. In Psalm 6, David prays under the heavy hand of God. Dr. John reminds us that David prays as a child confident in the love and mercy of the Father.

  • September 13, 2024

    Will God Hear My Prayer?

What assurance do we have that God hears our prayers? In Psalm 5, David asks God to hear his groaning and cries. The king was confident that God listens to the repentant, humble heart, which relies upon God's steadfast love. David was not disappointed.

    Security in the Evening

There are nights when sleep escapes you. Your mind races and your body finds no rest. The events of the day have ruined your night. Listen as Dr. John speaks of Psalm 4 and the secret to a peaceful night. The defence and nearness of God allow us to be at rest.

    Confidence in the Morning

We all have a morning routine. We rise, dress, enjoy coffee, brush our teeth and catch up on the news of the day. Dr. John suggests that we add one more discipline – especially if we are facing a challenging day. Psalm 3 is a morning prayer which reminds us that God alone can lift our head to face the day with confidence.

    We Are His

Join Dr. John Neufeld in the 8th and final week of the series, To the One Who Conquers, which has been studying the book of Revelation. In this final message, we will discover that the big picture of Revelation is the message that Jesus is coming back and taking an account of the whole world. All that’s left for us to do is make peace with God today. With all of the uncertainty going on around us, it can seem impossible to understand why things happen the way they do. But Revelation gives us a clear picture of the end. And at the end, it will be Jesus conquering all!

  • August 16, 2024

    Our Lives Are His

The book of Revelation is a remarkable one. It talks about the revelation, glory, and majesty of Jesus Christ. It tells us what will soon take place, which is the return of Christ, and the earth’s subjection to Him. In the 7th message of the series, To the One Who Conquers, join Dr. John Neufeld as he unpacks Revelation 6 as it details what the second coming of Christ will be like. We don’t know when that day will be, but we do know that we must make peace with God, and surrender our lives.

  • August 9, 2024

    All Power is His

These days, a lot of people are asking the same questions: “Where is all of this heading?” and “Is there a purpose to these hard times?” All we know is that Jesus is in control. He is holding us in His hands during these uncertain days. Have you ever wondered what life and the world would be like if we had no purpose at all? Join Dr. John Neufeld for week 6 of the series, To the One Who Conquers as he unpacks Revelation 5, and the truth that the very nature and existence of Christ gives us our ultimate purpose, for He has ultimate power. We have been called to lift God’s name high and proclaim His truths—no matter what our circumstances might be, and He will always carry us through.

    Every Kingdom is His

Did you know that it can be a blessing to go through uncertain times? Uncertainty helps us realize that we cannot find everlasting joy in this world. We are surrounded by sin and death, but that shouldn’t worry us- for our hope is in another place. Join Dr. John Neufeld as he continues on with week 5 of the 8-week series, To the One Who Conquers. This series in the book of Revelation gives us great insight as to what the promises of God are, as well as what He requires and expects of us, His children. Given the fallen nature of the world, it is worthwhile for us to ask ourselves, “What does God promise about the days to come?”

  • July 26, 2024

    Eternity is His

In the 4th week of this 8-week series in the book of Revelation, Dr. John Neufeld challenges us to decide what we want to do with our lives. By looking at the 7 churches written about in Revelation, Dr. Neufeld asks the question, “What do you prioritize in this life?” We are promised that if we reject the teachings of Satan and the things of this world, and hold fast to the teaching of Christ, we will rule with Him one day. This is a message you won’t want to miss!

    The Church is His

Join Dr. John Neufeld for the 3rd week in the series, To the One Who Conquers – an 8-week study in the book of Revelation! In this message, Dr. Neufeld looks at some of the Early Churches around the Roman Empire. The life of an early Christian was not an easy one, and yet the Early Church was filled with love, faith, and commitment to our Lord. What made them act that way, and what can we, in the modern church, learn from them?

  • July 12, 2024

    All Authority is His

The book of Revelation is filled with different prophesies and promises. At times though, the last book in the Bible leaves many of us feeling confused or fearful of what is to come. But did you know that Revelation also encloses 7 blessings from our Creator? And furthermore, Revelation 1 reminds us of the undeniable authority that God has over the earth. In the second message in the 8-week series, To the One Who Conquers, join Dr. John Neufeld as he looks at the first of 7 blessings found in Revelation. What does this blessing from God mean, and how are we to respond? We have been blessed by the One who has authority and power over everything, and if that isn’t life-changing, what is?

    Unbelief and Hardened Hearts

Every day, you are warned about something. Yellow lines, highway signs, workplace notices, weather forecasts. In fact, we receive so many, we can become numb to them. Dr. John points us to Hebrews 3:7-12 as God's warning that must not be ignored. The matters of eternity are too vital to disregard.

    Jesus Greater Than Our Heroes

We often put Superstars and Heroes in the same category; but superstars and heroes are different. Superstars are attracted to fame and a following. Heroes strive to do what is right by faithfulness and sacrifice. From Hebrews 3:1-6, Dr. John presents Jesus as the ultimate hero of history and humanity. He is worthy of all worship.

Jesus Made Fully Human For Us

Everyone needs help. No one can get through this life without leaning upon parents, teachers, doctors, friends, government or institutions. Of course, all these aids help us live. There is no one that can rescue us from death - except Jesus. Today Dr. John points to Jesus our Saviour who delivers us from the fears and pains of death - by dying for us.

    Jesus Brings Brothers To Glory

If your brother was king, you would benefit in countless ways from your relationship with him. Jesus is the supreme King above all. He shares the kinship of our humanity by His incarnation. We share the kinship of His righteousness through faith. Watch as Dr. John explains the benefits bestowed upon us through Jesus the King.

    Jesus Made Lower Than Angels?

Every life has its share of pain. We may suffer in different ways or degrees, but we all face the certainty of hardships. Since Hebrews declares the supremacy of Jesus Christ, it's natural to ask, "Why do we suffer when Jesus is in control?" Today, Dr. John leads us through Hebrews 2:5-9 which points to our ultimate destiny in Christ. It gives more than an answer to our question. It offers us hope.

    Why Does Our World Suffer?

Genesis 3 is a monumental chapter in the Bible because it tells us what’s wrong with the world. Genesis 3 is the diagnosis of the human condition. It answers the questions: Why are things always going wrong? Why don’t things work the way they’re supposed to? In the final message of The Intended Life, join Back to the Bible Canada’s Dr. John Neufeld as he takes a look into Genesis 3 and helps us understand why we’ve fallen from grace, and what it means for us as God’s creation!

What Is God’s Plan for Us?

What is God’s plan for our lives? Is there a way to find out? The 4th message of the series, The Intended Life with Dr. John Neufeld helps us discover the answer to that question. We are given so much freedom in our lives that can, at times, be too much for us to handle. Luckily for us, there’s a Guide that helps us navigate that freedom, and enables us to focus our personal freedoms on the greatest purpose to ever exist.

    The Importance of Being Human

This message answers a very significant topic that every single human cares about: What does it mean for me to be a human being? How is being a human different than being an animal in the wilderness, or a flower in a meadow? Join Dr. John Neufeld as he continues his study in the book of Genesis and helps us better understand what it means to be human.

Why Did God Create the World?

In the second message of the 5-message series, The Intended Life, we will unpack Genesis 1:3-23 which tells the story of creation – a story that has been the subject of debate since the beginning of time. We know that God created the world and everything in it, but why did He do it? Join Dr. John Neufeld and Back to the Bible Canada as together, we discover why He created us!

    The Purpose of Life

In the first message of the 5-message series, The Intended Life, Dr. John Neufeld gives an overview of not only the account of creation in Genesis 1, but also answers some of the questions that humans have been asking for centuries when it comes to our purpose here on earth. The story of Genesis 1 is the story of God imposing His purpose on this planet. By reading and understanding this chapter, we can gain critical insight to the age-old question: Why are we here?

    Pay Attention

Drifting is subtle. It moves us imperceptibly from where we are to a place we may not want to be. So drifting is also dangerous. Lane drift while driving, relational drift in marriage, spiritual drift in our faith journey. From Hebrews 2, Dr. John echoes the warning of drifting and calls us to, "Pay attention!" Eyes on the road and eyes on our faith will guide us to the right destination.

    The King Who Reigns

Some Christians focus on the deity of Jesus as an apologetic to false faiths or skeptical minds. But the fact that Jesus is fully God does more than win arguments. Hebrews presents the unquestioned deity of Jesus as foundation for our worship and faith. We are to bow the knee to Jesus and trust in Him through difficult times. Dr. John demonstrates that the truth of His deity is meant to saturate our hearts into praise and confidence.

  • April 12, 2024

    Authority

Every generation has had its rebels, but our current culture seems to revel in defying authority. We debate medical expertise, question political mandates and protest company decisions. We do not trust authorities and have replaced them with our own wishes and voices. Is our faith also victim to our suspicions? Today Dr. John teaches from Hebrews 1:4-9, that there is an authority that we must not only trust, but surrender to. Jesus is granted a position and name that rises above all others.

    No Rivals

If you walk down the cereal aisle in the supermarket, you may get dizzy with all the choices! Our society loves to present multiple options for shopping, entertainment, leisure activities, career paths - in virtually every aspect of life! Does that apply to spiritual matters as well? Is Jesus simply one among many options? As Dr. John continues his study of Hebrews, he begins by pointing to the supremacy of Jesus. Jesus has no competition, no worthy rivals, no threats to His glory. He is the only option for redemption. God has spoken through His Son!

    The Priceless Treasure

For many in the early days of the Church, coming to Jesus created significant challenges - especially for Jews. Having left their religious heritage for Christ, they would face hostility from family, society, and the synagogue. It may have been tempting to go back to the Judaic traditions and avoid the hardships. Today Dr. John introduces the book of Hebrews and the caution to not abandon Jesus. As Dr. John discusses the unknown author of this book, we find that regardless, it is written for us, for our day and our dangers.

Of Those Who Have Never Heard

In this message, Dr. John addresses a common point of debate and argument within the North American church: What happens to those who have never heard the Gospel? He also expresses how we should debate less and be compelled to go more.

    The Missionary Enterprise

Missions work is often fraught with danger, though not from the places we might expect. Dr. John recites Jesus’ words in Matthew 16:18 and explains how that verse holds the key difference between the early church and the church of today.

  • March 8, 2024

    What is the Gospel?

Before we embark on missions to spread the Gospel, it is important that we first understand what the Gospel is. Is the Gospel a list of moral principles we are to follow? Are missions only to provide for the physical needs of people? Dr. John addresses these misconceptions and explains why the Gospel is the greatest news of all.

  • March 1, 2024

    One New Man

In Christ, all divisions between people are ended. How does the blood of Jesus not only heal us of our sin but also our divisions? What does that mean for us today? What does it mean that Jesus is the beginning of a new humanity? Dr. John addresses these questions and reveals how Jesus sought to break down barriers to the throne of God.

    Jesus and the Gentiles

    God’s Global Agenda

What does Israel in the first testament have to do with the church of today? Let’s examine the model God sets up with Israel to bless the nations around them. How does this apply to us now? What is the book of Jonah trying to teach? How will we bless those around us?

  • February 9, 2024

    The Creator’s Plan

Why is it that whenever discussions about missions begin, they are centred around us rather than God? Why did God make a world where not everyone is saved in the first place? In this message, we explore how all creation and missions should have the same purpose: bringing glory to God.

    Come Lord Jesus

The last words of the last book of the Bible. Listen as Dr. John teaches of Jesus' words of invitation, warning, and assurance. It is fitting that the last canonical message from God's mouth is "Come." The Spirit says "Come." The Church says, "Come." There is a welcome of grace, deliverance and hope. The Saviour who speaks is coming soon. Even so come Lord Jesus.
