Jesus promised John the Apostle that His return would be soon. Watch as Dr. John echoes the prophetic words of Jesus at the closing of the book of Revelation. Jesus, whose words are trustworthy and true, is coming soon.

We all want to know what heaven is like, and many use their imagination to fill in the picture. This is not a good idea for two reasons. First, heaven is far greater than our imaginations can fathom. Second, we already have a description of our eternal destination. Watch as Dr. John teaches from Revelation 22 about a great city, a flowing river and trees that blossom with fruit every month.

We can spend so much time focusing on Jesus' Bethlehem arrival, we forget to ask, "Why did He come?" Most people approach Christmas as a "time for children," a celebration of generosity, a season of charity or family get togethers. These are accepted expectations of Christmas. Still, if we want to understand the "Why?" of Christmas, it's best to ask the One who was sent. As Dr. John teaches on the purpose of Jesus' birth, we find that Christmas is not less, but more.

Do not watch this video unless you are willing to have your Sunday School Nativity pageant shook up! We are used to seeing shepherds in dad's bath robe, angels with cardboard wings and wise men holding mom's jewelry box. Dr. John works through the stereotypical handling of Jesus' birth and explains the details of a swaddling cloth, a manger and the hard-hearted inn keeper. We find that the reality of Jesus' birth is more wondrous than we imagined.
December 15, 2023
Our understanding of the Christmas story has been shaped by children portraying Jesus’ birth in plays, dressed in their father's bathrobe and wearing cardboard crowns. So, our imagination needs correction from the Scriptures. Today Dr. John speaks of the Magi, often spoken of as the Three Wise Men. Beyond having some of our misconceptions clarified, we learn that the reach of God is global and there is a hunger in our world for God's salvation.
December 8, 2023
Shepherds were the first to hear of Jesus' birth and the first to gather around the manger. Did the angles go to the shepherds first simply because they were available at night? Clearly there was a reason why Jesus' Father chose shepherds as the first witnesses of God's nativity. Today Dr. John explains the significance of the shepherd witness. There is more here than coincidence.

Faith. What is it? What is your salvation based on? Is it a result of what you have done, accomplished or earned? Because you’re basically a good person or observed a certain ritual or routine? Or, do you understand that there is nothing you can do; it is only by faith that anyone is counted righteous. Dr. John’s biblical definition of faith would be this: “Faith is really all about trusting ourselves fully into the hands of God, on the basis of truth.” Romans 4 makes God’s message clear: the forgiveness of sin, salvation, comes by way of faith and faith alone.

Romans chapter 3 is one of the central chapters of the entire Bible. In chapters 1 and 2, Paul has made the case that sin is a universal condition of every human being. And the greatest need we have as humans is our need to deal with the very present sin issue. In chapter 3, we continue the sin discussion, but also God’s chosen remedy. At the end of the day, his remedy, confess that I am a sinner, I have nothing to offer God, but God has offered me Jesus. He offered me everything. I bring him nothing, but he has given me everything.

Romans 2 invites us to take an uncomfortable look at ourselves, a contrast between the external and the internal condition of our lives. We are often quick to look at the sinfulness of others, in fact to pass judgement on others, and yet we are less likely to compare ourselves to the same standard. And yet Paul says that in passing judgement on others we condemn ourselves because we practice the very same things. Dr. Neufeld in this message confronts the heart condition of the Christian, is our heart one that seeks the praise of God, not people? Do we recognize our need for a Saviour?

Until that thought occurs to us, we will never look for a saviour. But once it does, our hearts and our minds become open to the fact that God has brought one.”
