These final 3 parables in Matthew 13 call us to take some self-examination. What do we value? Are our values in line with Kingdom values? The great King, the long-expected Messiah, had entered into the world and He was establishing His kingdom. And when His kingdom comes, the blessing comes, and we expect also that all evil will fall before Him. It turned out that the expectation and the reality seemed to have this dissonance that is to say Jesus was indeed doing great and wonderful things, but the great evil dictator still remained in the world and a great many people were disappointed. What Jesus was trying to tell the people is that the kingdom of God would come in a way that they weren’t expecting. The Parable of the Weeds in Matthew 13 provides us with an understanding of the Kingdom of Heaven in the present hour.

Matthew Chapter 13, is a collection of seven separate parables that Jesus told about why the kingdom of heaven is as it is in the present hour. In this episode entitled “Losing Your Faith” we discuss the question; can someone lose their faith? Can you or I lose our faith? Many of us know stories of people who seem to be white-hot for the Christian faith one moment, and then seem to have fallen away at some other moment in time. As we study the Parable of the Sower we will discover what the soil actually represents, and perhaps discover something about our own standing of faith.

In the second message of this 5-message series Dr. Neufeld enters into the very reality that all Christians at one time or another struggle with doubt. What does doubt mean to the Christian? Does it mean a loss or abandonment of faith? Yet in scripture, we find many examples of people expressing doubt, even some of the most notable people in the Bible. In this message, we search out Matthew 11 and the experience of doubt expressed by even John the Baptist.

In the first message of this 5-message series, we begin to understand that the mysteries of the Kingdom are not intended to be hidden from the believer. When the Bible uses the word mystery it means that there are things that we could never resolve on our own, but the good news is that God can reveal them to us. Let’s set the stage for understanding, let’s enter into the story of John the Baptist and the seven parables that follow. Let’s know with certainty that Jesus is who he says he is, and the Mysteries of the Kingdom lay open for those who believe. This begins a great series of hope and faith.

The physics of light proves what we all know by experience. Light can dispel darkness, but darkness cannot extinguish light. No one can snuff out a candle by increasing the darkness in a room. In fact, the candle seems to shine brighter. In today's message, Dr. John points us to the promise that worldly darkness cannot overcome the light of Jesus. In fact, despite the gloom of this earth, Jesus shines brighter.

It is easy to define “greatness” by society’s standards. Greatness is fame, wealth, popularity and power. God defines ‘greatness” by a different standard. In this message, Dr. John looks at the life of King Hezekiah as an example of being great in God’s eyes. In difficult times and under extreme pressure, this leader turned a nation to God. Christian lives are not dependent upon luck – good or bad. We live under the providential care and guidance of God. In this message, Dr. John points us to the story of Esther. The circumstances of her life were not a coincidence, but the oversight of God. She went from being a peasant Jew to a Persian Queen, that she might be God’s instrument of deliverance. Esther had a decision to make: could she trust God in matters of life and death? Heroes choose courageous faith in an unfailing God.

Most would readily admit that Moses was a great leader. He led Israel from Egyptian bondage to the border of the promised land. But it took 40 years to do and wasn’t in a straight line. The path of God for Israel meandered through a wilderness over 4 decades. In this message, Dr. John points out that the greatness of Moses’ leadership was not in speed or direct routes but in his ability to trust God through the mystery of dead ends and delayed destinations. If you ever feel like God is leading you in circles, Moses is a hero to understand.

Faith is central. We come to God by faith and please God with our faith. So it is expected that God will refine and deepen our faith. In Genesis 22, we see the ultimate test of Abraham’s faith – to sacrifice his only son. Listen as Dr. John explains this test of trust and consider your own life. God shakes us to shape an unshakable faith.
July 22, 2022
It doesn’t take long for a believer to discover that God has His own way of doing things. His thoughts are not our thoughts nor His ways our ways. The life of Abraham is a testament to that. Abraham was waiting for God to fulfill the promise He made. He found that God takes longer than we want and He isn’t tied to our expectations or advice. God may even wait until the promise is impossible before He does it. If God confuses you, listen to Dr. John hold the faith of Abraham as our example.

We are accustomed to broken promises. Warranties with fine print, politicians who please ears to get elected, and guarantees that are ignored. People have broken their promises to you. In fact, we have broken promises ourselves. So we become suspect and cynical. In Genesis 15, Abraham believed God’s promise; he trusted the Word and integrity of God. That trust was accredited to him as righteousness. Listen to Dr. John’s encouragement for us; even today, faith is enough to receive righteousness in Jesus Christ.

Abraham faced a decision. God has offered him blessed promises, but he must leave Haran and walk into the unknown. Like a fledging bird, Abraham leaves security and prosperity to follow God’s call by faith. His faith would be tested by danger and delay, famine and foes. His faith was not always rock-solid, but God’s promises never wavered. Watch this video as Dr. John paces us with Abraham and his journey of faith, and consider the places God has invited you to follow Him by faith.

When God calls us, it is always away from our own natural ways and towards His ways of life. But we don’t always hear His call as good news; we are afraid of what God may take from us. So, we cling to our ways with a white knuckle grip. Dr. John demonstrates from Abraham’s example, that no one who obeys God’s call will ever lose out.

Do you know Jesus well enough to discern when He is being distorted by the cultural trends of the day? As we finish this series on the book of 2 John, the Apostle makes it clear that with love, we must not contribute to any teaching that is not in line with the historic and true teaching of Jesus from Scripture.

It may seem obvious to many but it’s a question that must be asked and must be understood. Why did Jesus have to die? In part one of An Easter Series, Dr. John Neufeld digs deep into our understanding of this one foundational question. The answer is simple and clear: sin. Jesus died on the cross because of sin. Now let’s review many of the critical old and new testament passages of scripture that will help us understand the size, depth and ultimate resolution to the problem that ultimately resolved in the death of Jesus upon a cross.
April 11, 2022
In part two of An Easter Series, Dr. John Neufeld looks into the second fundamental question of the Easter season: Why was Jesus raised from the dead? The story of the resurrection is necessary. The empty tomb of Jesus teaches us that the sting of death has ended. Jesus’ body begins to breathe, he stands, the door of the tomb is rolled aside, he steps out and forever changes the hope of everyone who believed that there was a God who would have mercy on us. This day is a day of celebration. He is risen, and in the risen Christ we find our hope!

December 24, 2021
The concluding episode in our series, ‘An Advent Celebration,’ answers an interesting question, are we more blessed than Mary? Is it possible that you and I might be even more blessed than Mary, the mother of Jesus? Is this what scripture is telling us? In Luke 11:28, Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.” There is no greater blessing than hearing the word that Jesus spoke, and taking it to heart, and living out those principles. The greatest source of satisfaction came to us on Christmas day, but it only remains a concept until we internalize his word and allow him to teach us how to live. At that point in time, you’ll begin to know what satisfaction truly is.
